Job Description: Principal, Strategic Partnerships and Resource Mobilization

Organization: YouthConnekt Africa (YCA) Hub

Location: Kigali, Rwanda (HQ)

Professional Level: Senior

1. The Role

This position serves as the high-level bridge between global capital and local impact. It is centered on the transition of YouthConnekt Africa from traditional, fragmented grant-seeking toward a unified Continental Fund model.

The core of the work involves identifying and securing large-scale, systemic investments from Pan-African and global entities and ensuring those resources are effectively “piped” into the National Chapters. By aligning the high-level visions of international partners with the specific, ground-level goals of individual chapters, this role ensures that the Hub acts as a force multiplier for the entire network.

Rather than competing for local resources, the position focuses on aggregating opportunities at the continental scale and distributing that value to strengthen the capacity of National Chapters to serve youth across the continent. It requires the diplomatic weight to negotiate with ministers and CEOs, combined with the strategic foresight to build sustainable, revolving financial mechanisms that outlast individual project cycles.

2. Key Responsibilities

  • Continental Fund Strategy: Lead the effort to secure large-scale investments from African private sector, development finance institutions and other relevant actors to create sustainable, revolving financial pools for African youth.
  • Resource Delivery: Design and manage the systems that ensure funding flow efficiently from the Hub to the National Chapters.
  • Strategic Matchmaking: Identify the specific needs of National Chapters and proactively scout for continental partners who can provide the necessary tools and resources to meet those local goals.
  • Common Standards: Create a universal framework that allows global partners to work with multiple National Chapters easily through a single, high-quality entry point.
  • Champion for African Youth: Represent the YCA Hub at high-level forums to position youth as a “bankable” asset class for the continent’s future.

3. Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: A Master’s Degree in International Relations, Economic, Business Administration, Public Policy or a related field.
  • Professional Experience: A minimum of 10 to 12 years of relevant experience in partnership management, resource mobilization, or investment, with at least 5 years in leadership capacity.
  • Financial Acumen: A deep understanding of blended finance, revolving funds, and impact investment structures.
  • Diplomatic Weight: The ability to negotiate complex agreements with high-level officials while maintaining the agility to support youth entrepreneurs.
  • Linguistic Versatility:  Full professional proficiency in both English and French is essential. The candidate must be able to negotiate, draft documents, and speak publicly in both languages.
  • The Pan-African Network and/Context: A strong “Rolodex” of  high-level contacts within the African private sector, African Union, DFIs, and/ or direct experience working within or alongside Pan-African institutions is an advantage.

How to Apply

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. The YCA Hub will begin interviewing qualified candidates immediately, and the position will remain open until a suitable candidate is identified.
