The Mission: To turn the heartbeat of African youth into a narrative the world cannot ignore; to make the work of YouthConnekt Africa feel alive, urgent, and unmissable, whether that’s for a TikTok-scrolling 19-year-old in Dakar or a high-level partner at the UN.
The Role
We are looking for a Digital Content Specialist. You are someone who understands that a 30-page policy report can be distilled into a 60-second masterpiece that moves both a teenager in a rural village and a partner in a boardroom. You walk into a room and instinctively see the “hook.”
You will be the creative engine of the Hub, responsible for the “look, feel, and sound” of YouthConnekt Africa across the continent.
Key Responsibilities
- Creative catalyst: You don’t wait for a “big production.” You find the spark in everyday office moments, a quick hallway interview, or a field visit, and transform those raw interactions into engaging media.
- Platform-Native Production: Creating “scroll-stopping” content tailored for TikTok, Instagram Reels, LinkedIn, X and Facebook. You understand that a LinkedIn post needs “gravitas”, while a Reel needs “energy.”
- Visual (and Sonic) Branding: Managing the end-to-end production of videos and photos, including sound design (sonic branding) that gives our content a signature African pulse.
- Strategic Input: You value professional guidance and institutional alignment, but you are not a silent observer. You are eager to chip in with creative ideas on how to improve our reach, experiment with new trends, and boost engagement across our platforms.
Who You Are
- Social Media Intuition: You speak “Internet” as a first language. You know the trends before they hit, but you also know which ones are appropriate for an institutional brand.
- Multidisciplinary Creator: You can handle the end-to-end process of shooting, lighting, and recording. We value passion and a high learning agility. If you have the creative “eye” and the drive to learn our professional kit, we will provide the space for you to grow.
- Professional Judgment: You can gauge the room. You know when to be a “fly on the wall” and when to step in to get the perfect shot.
- Technical Toolkit:
- Efficiency Tools: Proficiency in mobile editing suites (CapCut, InShot, etc.) and design tools (Canva,Adobe Ilustrator & Premiere pro) for rapid-turnaround projects.
- Technical Curiosity: While we don’t expect you to be a master of every professional software on day one, you must be a fast learner with an interest in professional video editing and sound design.
- A Visual Eye: A strong understanding of framing, lighting, and “sonic branding” even if you are just using a phone.
Requirements
- Experience: 1–3 years of professional content creation. We care more about your portfolio/experience/skills than your degree.
- Language: Fluency in English is a must. Proficiency in French and/or Portugueuse is a plus.
- The “X-Factor”: A demonstrated ability to tell stories that evoke emotion and drive action.
How to Apply
Send your CV and Cover Letter via email to info@youthconnektafrica.org.
Note: Including a link to your portfolio or a 60-second ‘pitch’ video telling us why you are the one to tell the YouthConnekt story is optional but highly encouraged. It is a great way to showcase your creativity and give us a glimpse of your unique perspective. Don’t just tell us your story, show us your lens. We are happy to review your CV to see your history, but we want to see your vision in action.
Note on Selection: Please note that we are reviewing applications as they arrive. The position may be filled before the official closing date if a suitable candidate is selected. Early applications are highly encouraged.
